In our search for an Intermediate Environmental Field Technician, we are looking for someone with a strong knowledge of provincial and federal regulations who enjoys problem-solving and working within a multi-stakeholder environment. FROSKR Environmental Technicians interact with clients, regulators, and local communities to facilitate their sustainability goals with their technical and professional expertise. In this role, you will assist in securing, leading, and executing projects with FROSKR’s partners in the mining, heavy manufacturing, petroleum, municipal and energy sectors.

Your Role as Intermediate Environmental Field Technician:
  • Maintain a safe operating environment, including preparing job-specific and site-specific field safety plans.
  • Planning field programs, including logistics, working with laboratories, preparing teams, preparing field sampling equipment and communicating with Project Managers and Clients.
  • Knowledge of and desire to continuously learn and understand environmental compliance, regulations and permitting.
  • Leading field programs, either alone or on behalf of a team, providing daily field updates to the Project Manager.
  • Completing fieldwork to the highest safety standards, technical best practices, and protocols of both FROSKR and Clients. This includes maintaining exceptional field notes.
  • Taking samples for air quality, surface water, groundwater, and soil, including use and maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment such as pH/multimeter, streamflow monitor, water interface meter, and dissolved oxygen meter.
  • Operating ATVs, snowmachines, Argo, motorboats, chainsaws, and other equipment in the conduct of field monitoring programs (formal training and certification are considered an asset).
  • Troubleshooting field issues that arise, including monitoring equipment, mechanical, and field instruments.
  • Supervising and directing sub-contractors regarding specific field programs (I.e., groundwater monitoring well drilling, excavation, etc.).
  • Preparing field reports, quality assurance and completing data entry.
  • Environmental projects are complex! This list is not comprehensive, and other duties and responsibilities may adjust depending on the project, client, and company requirements.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • College diploma or university degree in environmental science, engineering, or relevant field;
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently with little to no supervision, working alone in remote locations and adapting to conditions/resources.;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Experience in the environmental consulting industry, including fieldwork and interest in working in all weather and field conditions;
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience as an environmental technician;
  • Willingness and ability to travel with overnight stays and work a flexible schedule;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with exceptional report-writing skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a personal vehicle.
