An Environmental Scientist at FROSKR has strong knowledge of provincial and federal regulations and enjoys problem-solving and working within a multi-stakeholder environment. You will assist in securing, leading, and executing projects including baseline studies, environmental and social impact assessment, permitting and approval applications, undertaking of audits and development of environmental management systems with FROSKR’s partners in the mining, heavy manufacturing, petroleum, municipal and energy sectors. FROSKR Environmental Scientists interact with clients, regulators, and local communities to facilitate their sustainability goals with their technical and professional expertise.

Your Role as Environmental Scientist:

  • Lead and execute environmental activities associated with both pre- and post- award phases of a variety of environmental projects. This includes the development, negotiation, and management of environmental scopes of work and fee agreements with contractors, subconsultants and project management.
  • Support baseline environmental studies, environmental assessments, environmental management strategies, and plans including research, report writing, field work, and stakeholder and regulatory consultation.
  • Work on multiple projects to support execution of scope, budget, and schedule to meet client’s expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Direct and manage the entire environmental scope for a project, providing guidance to teammates, enforcing company and project policies, and acting as the primary environment liaison.
  • Provide technical expertise on a variety of permitting, regulatory, and environmental impact assessment tasks in support of clients’ projects. Review and interpret provincial and federal acts and regulations.
  • Support engagement activities with Indigenous groups, communities, and stakeholders as part of the project design and permitting process.
  • Preparation of technical and plain language summaries including regulatory reports, and preparing, coordinating and/or reviewing municipal, provincial, and federal environmental applications and environmental assessments.
  • Foster and maintain long-term client relationships and participate in business development activities as required as a technical expert for your division.
  • Maintain a safe operating environment.

What you bring to the team:

  • Ten years of relevant experience in an environmental consultancy role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management/Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage large, multi-discipline projects, contract negotiations, fee estimating, change management.
  • Strong project management skills (e.g., development of work plans, budgets, schedules, and project controls) in a client-facing role.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and environmental legislation.
  • Environmental Assessment experience.
  • Full or Provisional membership in a professional body (e.g., Registered Professional Planner (RPP and MCIP); Canadian Environmental Professional (EP); Project Management Professional (PMP); or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.).
  • Skilled in researching, analyzing, technical writing, communicating complex information and developing appropriate conclusions and action plans.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience engaging with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and Indigenous Communities.
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations including industrial sites.
  • Interested in a supportive, engaging consulting engineering culture.
  • Flexibility and ability to work from home in a virtual environment.
